Certifications
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
This class is suitable for doctors, nurses, caregivers and other professionals working in the health-care industry. The course covers adult, infant and child CPR (one and two rescuer), use of a bag mask, foreign-body airway obstruction for conscious and unconscious victims and automated external defibrillation.
This class is 4 hours in length for initial certification and 2 hours for recertification. Each participant who completes the class must pass a skills check off as well as a 20 question written exam. Upon successful completion, a Healthcare Provider Card will be issued.
Heartsaver CPR
The Heartsaver course is suitable for daycare providers (this course meets NC state requirements for daycare providers), business office workers, restaurant employees, stay-at-home mom groups and anyone who wishes to learn life-saving CPR. Course material for this class can be customized to suit your learning needs. Optional class topics include adult, child and infant CPR. All classes include use of barrier devices and relief of choking.
Heartsaver CPR classes run between 2 and 3 hours. Participants who complete the course and a skills demonstration check off (no written exam) will receive the Heartsaver CPR card.
Heartsaver AED
This course is appropriate for anyone who wishes to learn Heartsaver CPR along with the use of an automated external defibrillator. Many businesses and public buildings now have AED’s on site and need to have trained employees prepared to
use them. Optional segments for this course are the same as in the Heartsaver CPR course, with the addition of required hands-on practice using an AED Trainer, which will be provided for in-class use.
The Heartsaver AED class is between 2 and 3 hours. Upon successful completion of the course and a skills demonstration check off (no written exam), participants will receive the Heartsaver AED card.
Heartsaver First Aid
This course is suitable for child-care providers, nannies, sporting coaches, outdoor-adventure clubs, scout leaders, and anyone desiring to learn CPR and treatment of medical and injury emergencies. The contents of this course can be customized to
suit your training needs. Materials covered include managing medical illnesses and injuries while waiting for professional help to arrive at the scene. CPR, AED and environmental emergencies are optional topics that can added to your customized
class.
The length of this class is between 3 (First Aid only) and 6 hours depending on the optional topics you choose for your course. Each participant must have a student manual, which may be purchased at the time of course registration. Upon successful completion of the course, skills demonstration check off for your
optional topics and completion of review questions in the student manual, the Heartsaver First Aid card will be awarded.
Heartsaver CPR in Schools
This course is offered to any school employee wishing to become CPR certified. The course is between 2 and 3 hours. Upon completion of the course and skills demonstration, a Heartsaver CPR card is issued.
Blood Borne Pathogens
This course is suitable for child care workers, school personnel, health care workers, occupational health, maintenance workers, tattoo artists, security, state correctional facilities, health and fitness staff and any facility wishing to learn to protect themselves and others. The Blood Borne Pathogen course meets Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for blood born pathogen training when paired with site specific training. This course lasts for one hour and your certification is given the same day of class.
CPR for Family and Friends
This course is great for family members and friends who want to learn life-saving CPR skills. The class is between 2 and 3 hours.
